Abstract |
The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) in libraries is transforming the way libraries operate and serve their patrons. This study explores the applications and implications of AI and ML in libraries, highlighting their potential to enhance information retrieval, cataloging, and user services. AI-powered tools, such as chat bots and recommendation systems, can improve user experience and provide personalized support. ML algorithms can also be used to analyze library data, predict user behavior, and optimize library operations. The study discusses the benefits and challenges of implementing AI and ML in libraries, including issues related to data quality, algorithmic bias, and staff training. It also examines the potential impact of AI and ML on library services, including the potential for job displacement and the need for new skills and competencies. The findings of this study suggest that AI and ML have the potential to revolutionize library services, but libraries must carefully consider the implications and challenges of implementation. The study concludes that libraries must invest in staff training and development to ensure that they have the skills and competencies needed to effectively integrate AI and ML into their services. This study provides insights into the applications and implications of AI and ML in libraries, highlighting the potential benefits and challenges of these technologies.
